Default My latest purchase...

This!

Sad I know but I do like fiddling with such things. And I have a purpose for at least half those ports...

It's a posh version of those network ports in the back of your broadband router.
It will allow me to bond two ports together to effectively become one connection, thus doubling the transfer speed between devices.
TBH, I just fancied getting one to learn more about them.

Thank you - I'm none the wiser.

All the computing needs in Squid Towers are arranged by Raf, Soulkiss and the ever handy TSM, as they're all proper computery geeks - in a nice way obviously.

The supplier I bought it from couldn't quite believe I wanted one.
I don't suppose it's much different to a lot of people who buy a GSX or a Ducati... That argument is my last line of defence so I'm sticking to it!

Transferring data between devices inside ones house, is an absolute necessity IMO

Well, if one has a NAS (basically a hard disk accessible over the network) with ripped movies and ripped music, things like SONOS (music player) and XBMC (media player for watching films) need to be able to transfer data around.
But like I said, it's more because it's got lots of lights and the girls will think I'm cool (obviously when Constanze isn't around )...

Do that in my house all the time. I shout at the wife, and she shouts at me.
