Always fancied a scooby as part of "the fleet" a P1 would probably be top of the list.

Always liked look of the Legacy sport tourer for a practical family car but the accounting training kicked in when I looked further down the spec sheet at the CO2 and MPG numbers. Roomy estate, 2.5l auto box, all wheel drive... Shame. When I got the Focus earlier in the year I did look up the Impreza to see what the "cooking" version was like - slow, expensive and even worse on the stats. Oh well.

They literally stabbed themselves in the face by turning an iconic sports coupe/saloon into an ugly hatchback. I hope the genius behind that was kneed in the groin 8 or even 9 times.

In the late 90s I had three Impreza Sports as company cars (my boss had a Turbo, so I wasn't allowed one). They were ok cars I suppose, but the interiors weren't as nice as an Evo's. Since then I've owned or had long term use of Evos and think they're a far better car.

Sadly WRC going to Supermini size cars a couple of years ago put the two production replicas onto the phasing list.

Shame to see them go, but no point producing a rally car that can't be rallied. It also won't have help that Peugeot and Citroen (with the not for sale prototypes) wiped the floor with the Japanese factories for the final 8 years in the 2.0 Turbo era

It's bizarre that they made that horrific cheap looking Focus clone out of a great car. Bizarrely, there is a saloon version of the new shape, which whilst not a patch on the old ones, looks a lot better than the hatchback abomination. It's just that it's relatively rare and I've never seen one outside of a dealership.

I've got a 2003 Impreza. Good balance between practicality and sportiness for what I want out of a car. It's a killer vehicle for the winter months with a spare set of wheels and winter tyres too. I was planning on keeping it another 4 years or so and then buying a 2-3 year old new shape one. Looks like I'll now need to look elsewhere.

Lozzo: How do you find the Evos in terms of parts costs/service intervals? I had always discounted them as anything other than a second car for weekend use only as the running costs were so high.

If you want a cheap one I would guess that the 2001 -2002 ones are about £50 by now because those two years are where they made it look like a 1998 - 1999 1.3l Toyota Corolla with a bonnet scoop
