Hi all... Ive decided to keep hold of the curvy i purchased a few weeks back and am going to put it on track for a bit of a play... The only bits ive sold so far are non essentials or cheap enough to replace.
Needs a good full service including complete brake overhaul. The fairings (bikini) are all slightly damaged so im currently unsure whether to just leave it as it is, or search for a track fairing, anyone have any ideas how much i would be paying for a second hand one!? Any other hints/tips for me to do to the bike? ill probably be looking for my first outing to be about april/may time so i have time to tinker (and save up) ![]() |

The usual tips I guess, loose as much weight as poss, upgrade whatever useful bits you can afford.
Depends on your budget, I quickly blew thru mine so I guess decide on that first! |

I wouldn't spend any money that doesn't need to be spent. You may find your not a fan of track riding or your financial situation may change. Sort the brakes and then remove all the breakables and things you don't need like: Lights & rear footrests, then just tape over the light holes. If you like it and are planning on doing 2 or 3 a year then look at throwing some money at it.

Good advice.
Loose weight. The track bike I helped build has nothing forward of the head stock, no plastics, instruments, sub-frame, nothing. Simplify the wiring loom, loose the excess off the rear sub-frame, ditch the radiator fan, it all adds up and doesn't cost a penny. Fit decent fast road tyres, make sure the brakes are in good condition, and fit a zx6/gsxr/after market shock. Fit crash mushrooms. You should now be ready to rock and roll. Jambo

Only thing I'd recommend spending money on are some wets on wheels in case we have another wash out summer. If your a track day novice even a stock curvy will be more than enough to have fun on.

Like what's been said, tyre's. My last trackday was a bit meh because of the naff tyre's i was running.
weight is probably a good one aswell, if you get a good day weather/track temp wise you'll be knackard by lunch time, i usually am.... And then stupidly i go a feed my face and am even slower from being stuffed. Last edited by Wideboy; 26-01-13 at 10:19 PM. |
