Default New bike advice?

Hello chaps

I've got a £5k budget to spend on a bike. It's got to be at most two years old, less than 5000 miles on the clock and decentish on fuel (anything better than a normal car really...which is most bikes I suppose!)

I'm going to try something different to an SV, wouldn't mind staying V-twin but also open to triples and four cylinders.

I'm going to be using it every day of the week, round trip of just over 50 miles in London traffic. So needs to be comfy, don't mind a sportier reach with clip ons but I'd really like an upright bike tbh.

The bike's I've narrowed down to so far are:

FZ8
CB600 (2011 onwards)

Or I could go mental and buy an Agusta Brutale :P (have to admit I'm tempted haha!)

What would you guys recommend? I'm far from an experienced rider but I like my pretty bikes with midly trick suspension and good handling is a must!

Thanks

The ER6F is good. My wife has one. It's low, good on fuel, comfy seat with wide grips and has a good level of power. Striple would be my choice before the ER as well.

I've been reading about these, the vast majority of people say the tank range is woeful and they're a bit weak over all with soft suspension and so on, like I said...it's just stuff I've read so I stand to be corrected. They look quite odd too, in a good way though!

Eh? What false things have you heard about reliability?

No worse or better than any other brand, hold good second hand values too.

VFR800, not sure if its within price range but it can't be that far off.

Just Triumphs in general, I've always heard they're a bit prone to being lemons...I assume they're dead solid and will sit happily in rain, wind and snow then?

There are but usually with hoofin great mileage...which is a concern. I know mileage doesn't tell the whole story, I could buy something with 10 miles on the clock that's nothing but a pain in the ****, but high mileage usually equates to all sorts of bearings and seals needing renewing...

They certainly won't rust as much as some I could mention.

Btw, with respect, that what you've heard is a crock of ****, I truly believe they are no worse than any other manufacturer.

Food for thought, a lot of triumph owners don't just buy one, they buy triumph again, so they can't be that bad can they?

Plenty of triumph owners on here, I've had my sprint nearly 3 years and covered 13k miles, with the exception of brake discs, I haven't had a single issue.
