New member after an old SV650

Hello everyone,
20yo student in London, originally from Newcastle. Got my 125 in my first week at uni, got the balls to tell my parents about 3 months later. A year later and I'm finally moving up in the world, heart set on an SV650. (If you or someone you know are looking to sell an SV that's seen better days, check my post in Stuff Wanted).
Figured I'd sign up first so when I break something I can come crying for help without having to wait through the 5 minute registration process

What this slightly unhinged person said. I had my SV for about 2 or 3 years before I finally signed up here and made an effort to meet people. After I did that I made a load of mates (who all suck and I hate you guys/wish you were dead/you smell etc), did loads more riding and as such came on leaps and bounds. Other avenues opened to me as well.

Basically, getting stuck in is highly recommended.

Got my eye on a 20k 1999 model for £1000, hopefully be able to check it out this weekend. That sound like an alright deal to you guys?
