Battered SV650

Hi all, new here!

I'm finally getting into the world of big bikes after a year or so of riding a 125 and have settled on the SV650. I'm planning on giving the bodywork a complete rehaul, so what I'm looking for is a sub-25k machine (any year) that performs well, but looks like crap. Cracked headlight mount, split fairings, scuffed tank, anything that drops the price. I know this is all very vague but if anyone happens to know a friend who knows a guy who once met someone who's desperate to sell his fugly SV, let me know. Thought I'd throw something out there on the off-chance it works out!

Any advice on buying second hand is appreciated too. I've read the big threads on the forum and know about the main things like camchain tensioners, but any advice whatsoever is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Depending on how much you want to spend there's usually a few SV's on ebay around the £1500 mark. There was one on there recently with missmatched fairings and tank. etc, so they do show up. Just depends how patient you are really

There's no huge rush so happy to wait around a little while... hoping for something less than £1300; as Pricey says there's normally a few for around £1500 on eBay so I can afford to wait for something particularly shiny (or not in this case!)

£1750 would get you a quite a clean black pointy with less than 11500 miles!

My 2000 curvy in yellow will be in the market soon. MOT getting done tomorrow
Passed with 2 advisors. 1 rear light not working (now replaced) and chain a bit loose, will tension up later.
