Passed my test aug last year and choose an sv650 as my first bike and love it . The person before me removed the lower fairing for some crazy reason. Well ive managed to purchase my lower fairing and fitting kit which im.pleased about. Now here comes the problem. I am getting quote really crazy prices to paint. What is the normal going rate????? Or can anyone recomend a good painter in the Romford area that wont rip me off. ;-(

it depends really, what do you consider crazy ?
go to a back street car sprayer and accept whatever colour he has left over from a previous job and you could well get it done for next to cost £50-75, go to a bike sprayer and it'll be roughly a couple of hundred, go to dream machine and it'll be closer to £500, or someone like myself done in a garage, cost of paint and a pint, pays your money takes your choice..... ![]()

I had one side repainted in the K9 blue as the previous owner laid the bake on its side, not massive damage but it was just annoying me so I started to gather up some quotes which ranged from £80 to £200, I opted for a place called Samson in Bolton at £120 but I managed to get them down to £100, the item was ready to pick up within 24h and looks just like factory.
So in my opinion I would say £200 to £250 for a good job. |

I might be able to sort something out for you. Friend does this for a living and is going to do mine in the next couple of weeks. Pm me your details and I'll see what I can do.

£150 would be a decent quote. You have to remember you need to pay for paint and materials (£60 ish) prep time (usually a good hour) paint time, bake time (1 hour), lacquer time and a second bake time. You have to pay for the bake time as the sprayer can't do a lot of work when the spray booth is occupied!
This would be higher if you need a 3 stage paint like the K5 yellow or if the panels need repairing or have deep marks/scuffs than need filling. £150-250 would be the right sort of price, condition and paint dependant. Regards |
