Default can someone close to perth lend me a chain tool or some advice.

servicing my bike over the last week. have put hel lines and sintered pads + filters + oil. I am a total mechanical novice and so far its gone well. "touch wood"

next is chain and sprockets. Ive done the rear, i know how to do the front, but ive got the original endless chain on there... its past its best. my original plan (due to me being so mechanically incompetent) was to cut off the old endless chain (dremel etc) and then rivet the new chain once it was in place.

this is mainly because i dont want to take the swing arm off.

so first question, will this work ?

Secondly, i bought a soft link chain, i take it there are no little tricks i can use to rivet this without a chain tool, so i was wandering if anyone local could lend me one ? If i do HAVE to take the swing arm off then i could come to you, use it then go back.

Third question,
if you have to take the swing arm off, how do you support the bike? my track stand holds the bike up by the swingarm!

Thanks!

yes you only use it once every 20k but get yersel a rivet tool. if not then get a split link then pop into your local bike shop with the rivet link and get them to do it. perth honda are part of the 'Cupar Suzuki' chain i think and usually good lads.

cut old chain off and then attach the new chain to the old one and feed it in from the rear sprocket forwards.

when your riveting the new chain do it at the rear sprocket and it makes life much easier.
