Well it finally happened, after 3 1/2 years of riding I finally dropped my bike last Thursday...I nearly cried.
I'll put it down to having just started it, the engine being cold and my TPS being shot at 4200, did the adjustment the following day. Wish i'd done it sooner. (Do yours if you haven't, it's easy, great post on here.) Sorry no idea how to add a link! However a word of caution to my fellow Pointy riders with lower fairings. If you have the standard piece of **** fitted to your bike that Suzuki stock in the kit, I suggest you fork out for the R&G ones that now adorn my bike, i'll explain. I was stationary at my works entrance waiting to turn right, I went to pull away, lifted my foot to peg, leaned into the turn, bike died!! Managed to get my foot down ,but no hope of saving it. Felt like an eternity holding it till I realised I had no option but to lower it to the floor. Which I did as gently as I could, no forward movement. Bike came away fairly unscaved, scratched bung, tiny scuff on mirror, slight scuff to my stock exhaust - perfect excuse to find some money to buy a new one ![]() However pre mentioned bracket had snapped!! From being placed down. NO chance of taking any other kind of impact. Thankfully I wasn't moving so I still have my fairing!! Please go and buy the R&G bungs, I think it's probably the wisest £95.00 you could spend, and there bloody gorgeous.. As far as a review of the bungs, they look extremely well made, the instructions are easy to follow, and they were simple to fit, took 5 mins, well maybe 10 including lowering your fairing out of the way. Hopefully you'll have to wait a long time for my rating of how they survive in a crash!! Last edited by shiftin_gear98; 24-05-13 at 07:20 AM. |

I came round a corner into gravel (rushing to work) and low sided, lets just say I was doing more than the NSL and the bungs saved the bike... Would've been a write off

I think they are ugly as sin but they certainly look like they'll do a job, certainly in a slow motion drop like the one you had. My bike didn't leave the shop until they were fitted.
Glad to hear the damage is minimal and both you and the bike live to ride another day. |

Just ordered some for the RR. They are the Aero design which are better looking IMO

Can anyone explain why the two aluminium bits ( one either side) are not mirror symetrical in the SV650 fully faired kit?
Looks to me like the right hand side one, where the bung mounting screw hole is directly in line with the two frame mounting holes, is wrong and the bung mounting screw hole should be lower! Are the frame mounting points or the lower fairing sides not symetrical?

Put them on mine as soon as I got it, just in case, and R & G bar ends they are very good as well 2 mins to fit.
