If they're as successful as the ones on the A14 north of Cambridge, they'll increase the traffic bunching and the number of accidents

These fuds really do not have a clue.
Everybody else knows what needs to be done to that road so why can't they just get it done? We have paid for all those beautiful Spanish roads so how about some of those euro grants come back this way! |

. More time looking at speedo = less time looking at the road = less safe
They never learn do they ...

This will slow the traffic down even more. HGV speed limit is 40 on the single lane stuff, but some will go faster to reduce the delays they cause (or because they are running late etc) More queues, more frustration, more accidents, more road closures, more delays. Repeat.
Really needs more dual carriageway. With cameras if they wanted to.

They need to be seen to be doing something that will reduce the carnage. I try to avoid the A9 when on the bike, but have to use it when driving.
I have no confidence in those managing the roads - appears that some of the cheaper options they elect to implement should never have been on the table due to safety concerns. Then after many incidents, usually multiple fatalities, they are upgraded to what should have been done at the start. e.g. A9 North Kessock. They currently have put in a scheme at the new Inverness campus site that sees the traffic queue back onto the A9 at peak times. Doesn't take the Brahan Seer to envisage whats going to happen. When this was given approval there was a different scheme shown that included a dedicated slip and other mods. Have heard claims that money was diverted to "pet projects", so can't afford that. Probably free up the radar ambush guys too. |

the conversation would have gone something like, 'we need to upgrade streaches of the A9 as its getting dangerous and its going to cost £20mil' 'no way! stick some average speed cams up and we can make £20mill'.
road safety, give me a break.. if the rumours are true we are going to be getting a blanket 50mph everywhere and towns/cities dropped to 20mph. thing that amazes me is that they claim motorists are better drivers now due to the new driving test standards and modern vehicles. well if that were true then they would be upping the speeds. so more lies. it's all to fleece the public out of money, nothing more nothing less. so if we all behaved and drove within the law they would have to generate revenue elsewhere which would be road tolls and or higher fuel prices. what gets me is where the feck is all the revenue going as i don't see any extra being spent, in fact we get even less spent. someone is fiddling the books. |

Just listen to the traffic reports, 9 times out of 10 it'll be an accident in between Bar Hill and Godmanchester on the A14. Favourite places are Bar Hill, Cambridge Services & Godmanchester. Its one reason they want to make a new part of the A14 to avoid this section
