is it worth fitting one?
my temperamental ALDI 24ltr compressor was doing my nut in so i got myself a 50ltr clarke panther compressor cheep of one of the mates and was wondering if fitting a water trap is worth it. i was thinking of fitting water/oil type but i might use it for spraying so don't want oil up the hose. |

If you're doing a bit of fancy spraying I'd fit one tbh for the low cost of them, not worth the risk.

it'll be used for mainly windygun stuff but i might enlighten myself in the art of spraying at some point as i have spare fairings and possibly a duke 750ss to spray.

Don't forget it always bloody rains up north so the atmosphere where your compressor will be sucking from will be moist as ****.
You can get the dual filter jobbies that oil the line too. Last edited by Specialone; 29-07-13 at 05:57 PM. |

You'll need one if you start doing spraying, otherwise I wouldn't bother.

pretty much decided that a filter is a must.
another question for you gurus. the valve on the thing has 3 outlets 1 with an air release valve 1 with a pressure gauge and 1 as the outlet. my question is can i take the pressure gauge off and fit another line in? this would let me put one line for filtered air/regulator and another for filtered air/oil/regulator then keep a hose for spraying and another for tools or just don't bother with the filter/oil one for tools. so far the compressor has not let any pressure escape and runs like a goodun, much much better than the blooody ALDI one i have. |

Strip it down and find out if it's a full flow fitting.
If it's a pot metal thing don't bother as the metal is that cheesy you'll never get anything to seal in there again.

Better off just putting a 1/4 inch threaded Y piece in at the outlet, either make it as a quick connect or take off the compressor one and thread the Y piece in there with two female sockets on the other end.
I'll have a look in my box of fittings I have and see what Ive got. |
