Well, just thought I'd say....
I'm off for a ride with my 83 year old grandad tomorrow. Not too far just from Leeds to Brid and back. He's got a Bonny T100 (new one) but he's also got a '76 model (T140) which is mint condition and an AJS.
How many know old guys (80+) that are still riding regually? Last edited by Phil 1; 03-09-13 at 05:39 PM. |

Hats off and respect to your Grandad. I hope I can still do that at that age. In fact I just hope I get to that age.
I feel about 80 when I got off my bike sometimes. |

Re: Well, just thought I'd say....
I too hope I get to that age! He's sustained a couple of injuries this week too, run his thumb through a wood thicknesser yesterday which he's had surgery on, and fallen over his bike workshop stand today onto his compressor so he's both thumbs bandaged up, still up for a ride though
Personally I think he's a bit nuts... |

In the GM we have an old boy, forum name The Idle Biker, he's knocking on for 85 now and still comes out every now and again for a ride.

Re: Well, just thought I'd say....
There is an old guy locally who used to turn up at my dad's on a Panther in the 60s. He always tells a good story of the Brough Superior he sold for the deposit on his house.
These days he has a CBR 900 blade he never rides any more but lets his 50 year old daughter ride. A zzr 600 as his mile muncher and a Francis Barnet as his potter about. He still has the DOT in the box he put it in in the 60s and keeps threatening to get it out and rebuild. Oh he is 85, deaf as a post and a right bolchy barsteward.

Bumped into a 75 year (young-un) the other day at the coast, riding an R1! He had a late 2010 plate and had done 26K miles on it already
Gives us all hope we can live life to the fullest right until the end! here's the original post

Respect to your grandad mate! There's a bloke who goes down to h caf quite often on a Daytona 675 who has an oxygen bottle strapped to his back and a tube going into his lid.. Talk about loving bikes!
