Hi All,
I have had a look about and found threads on noises in low gears, but any vids have had a different sound to mine. When I'm pulling away from stop and change up to 2nd, I get 4 to 5 knocks, sounds like its low down but cannot be sure. I havent heard it at higher gear changes and its not there 100% of the time, or i just dont notice. Performance otherwise is normal. Could this be a tensioner tightening up? Bike is hitting 20k miles and serviced not so long ago. Cheers Mark |

does it make the same noise freewheeling the bike?
have you had tyres changes very recently? have you checked the condition of your chain and sprockets? |

No noise when free wheeling, but i have had the both tyres replaced a few hundred miles ago, to BT023. Much noiser road noise than my old BT021's.
When i had my last service i asked the mechanic about the chain and sprockets, he said they were fine. I initially checked and retightend my chain (before the service) when i first started hearing the noise but it has made no difference. Its only a couple of knocks( 4-5), after changing gear, nothing persistant. It has put me in mind of like a ratchet catching as something gets tightened. |

sounds to me that 2nd is not engaging properly (catching before fully engaging), try flicking it quicker into 2nd, see if that helps.
mine does is from 2nd to first if im going to fast for 1st or if im not really kicking it down hard enough (Lazyness) another option is im completley wrong! :P |

Hard to say without hearing it but ive had a clunk make times before from the chain being too loose or also when my chains been scraping my centre stand after over time the exhaust hanger moved up and let the stand hit the chain

Right an update. Front sprocket was worn so chain and sprockets changed. So far no strange noises but the guy who services my bike says the clutch plates may need replacing. I think I should retrain in bike mechanics as im defo in the wrong job.
