Hi, I bought a 2009 sv650 Sunday and have my A2 module 2 test tomorrow. I had the bike restricted today, I assumed they would restrict it to the new 46bhp limit, however they have restricted it to 33bhp. I am not to bothered about this for the time being, they said they will sort it out in the future if needed but tbh if I pass tomorrow, I just want to ride and not have to wait for the garage to get the new kit. However I am not sure if this is ok for the insurance? As I read on the Internet that the original bhp can't be more than double the new restricted bhp.
Now does this mean no more than double the maximum restriction limit? Ie, 92bhp or no more than double what it is restricted to now, so no more than 66bhp? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks, Tom |

It's fine, it's that you can't buy a bike which has over double the 46.6bhp limit (93.2). You can buy any bike which is below that limit, but it has to then be restricted to 46.6 or lower. I would however state to the insurance company what the bike is restricted to.

Ask how long it'll take to get the new kit...if it's a few days then may as well wait, if it's weeks then ride it as is and have it changed later (but when you tell insurance they will charge you an admin fee and may try to increase the premium, so worth checking first)

you will be fine, as Phil said just let the insurance know. however, you will want the 46BHP kit fairly quickly as im currently on the 46BHP restriction and have been for 2 months or so, im wandering whether to remove it all together haha!
Will be a good chance for you to get used to the bike though and then when they do up it you will have a new lease of life out of it! Ride safe mate |

Yep good luck for the test. Treat it as another lesson and use the directions as if you were just listening to a sat nav.

I wouldnt recommend taking your restrictor out. Do it the right way, its worth the wait.
