Default Linear or progressive fork springs?

I know that this is raising old discussions, but i wondered if there was any difference in peoples recommendations for springs and setups from one style of bike to another, ie the naked over the faired as the handlebar height and body position is slightly different between the models.

I have a K8 naked, weigh approx 14 stone in my birthday suit (pure muscle truly it is....) and wondered which would be best. I'm no racer so just road riding.

I may be talking a load of horlicks but I dont know so I'm asking.

Linear for track, progressive for a comfy road.

Linear, forks are naturally progressive anyway.

Either (for the road). The important thing is that they are good quality and sprung for your weight range.

Linear everytime regardless of road or track. You want consistant support from the spring which is designed to give you support and not act as the damping. There is no reason why you would want a fork that gets stiffer the more travel you use. Let the damping control the fork and the spring support you and the bike.

ok who sells progressives with any info about the weight they're designed for?

Get linear, progressives aren't as good. What really happens is the soggy bit means you blow through all your travel with no effort... then you get to the firm bit at the same time as the air spring and it kicks.

Plus one...

I had mine sorted at MCT in stowmarket.

Darren Unpronounceable of said company advises linear over progressive every time.

Thanks,

Mark
