Anyone tell me if using a car jack up against the sump to lift the front end will damage anything. I have normally used points on the frame on other bikes I have owned without any problem(obviously supporting either side) but that's not an option with the SV. Thanks.

I've done it - you just need to be careful with the pipework. I used a block of wood inbetween the sump & the jack.
