30 years ago this Friday Culture Club were No. 1 with Karma Chameleon.

For those too young to remember them Culture Club had a gay cross-dressing Irish singer, a black-Briton, a Jew and an Anglo-Saxon Englishman - not a dissimilar mash up to the people we mix with on a Friday night in Frith Street.

No, he moved out a years ago.

Me and my friends used to nick apples from the trees in the garden there, but that was a good few years before Georgie Boy bought the place and it became surrounded by squealing Japanese girls.

I think I had a disproportionate amount of giggles from seeing '(a man)' in the poll options. I'm still giggling now. It's quite impossible to read those options without singing them in your head (especially the bits in brackets). 'Thanks' for the reminder though that I'd just started my 1st year of secondary school when this song hit the charts.

Anyway, to no-one's surprise, I'll not be there this week because (as usual) I'll be out on the streets of London saving lives
