Photography experience

As if often the way with my rambles, no-one asked for it but I did it anyway
My brother is getting into photography and my mum is trying so I tried to write out some of the things I've picked up so far and put them into a sort of tips list.

I've tried to keep it short and to the point but my mind wanders and I mostly have to just follow it. I don't mean it to sound patronising but I thought it might prove useful to someone.

Any thoughts you agree with? disagree with? would like to add?

It looks like we will have even more participation in the photo a day thread next year so hopefully this might prove a useful thread if others add their own tips etc.
