Despite Visordown releasing 2 articles mentioning it, and the Milan bikeshow being underway, I can't help but feel we're still mushrooms when it comes to a new SV (kept in the dark & fed bull ****).
What is it? Is it the SV650S with a new restictor kit? Is it the Gladius, with the name dropped back to SFV, but no visible differences? Is it a mildly restyled pointy with Gladius engine &ABS? Is it wish list bike X, Y, Z from the previous thread? Suzuki seem so ready to shout about their Vstrom thou and new turbo whatsit, that I'm finding it hard to believe its anything more than option 1 or 2. ![]() |

I can't help but feel, there may be many with SV heritage turning to a tempting 4 letter word spelled MT07, but I have so much love/nostalgia for my old SV, that I'd by a new one even if it was just adding ABS on the UK model.
The fact a 10 year old model remains relevant when Kwak have done 3 re-hashes of an "equivalent" bike in the last 7 years alone, goes to show just how quality the SV is. |

For the UK the Gladius is now officially the SVF650

But it's ugly and there isn't an "S" model with full fairing which drastically reduces the market. It's also going to have a reputation for being a girls bike for the rest of eternity.
Step one: restyle SV into the preferred and more attractive curvy look Step two: don't fiddle with engine Step three: add ABS Step four: .......... Step five: profit. |

I must say I can't see any advantage from the Gladius - heavier, no fairing, and 20% more expensive. It's styling for the sake of styling appearance doesn't appeal to me either? What's the benefit supposed to be?
