Default Any big trips this year?

My mates took on what I can only describe as an EPIC journey; riding from London to Lagos Nigeria.............on sportsbikes!!

The journey was featured in the last edition of RiDE magazine.
I would love to do something like that; definitely NOT on a sportsbike!!

Cant say I'd be up for a journey like that on a sportsbike! Not unless the suspension was changed all round, and, actually just no haha.

Looks cool, Nick Sanders rode around the world on a R1, not something I'd wanna do tbh.

Shame they posted that in the ride mag and not adventure bike rider, more guys read that mag that have been all over the place.

I would love to get some sort of adventure bike for a trip like this.......something mid-class; not any of the heavyweights.

You might wanna wait until that's had proven time in the field, that BMW engine they've used has a big question mark over its reliability, it's been de-tuned for this application and it's got 70 hour service intervals.

If you look up CCM in the dictionary, it's not under the 'reliable' section.

Ktm 690 adventure.

Google KTM 690 fuel pump and get it replaced with an aftermarket alternative first, or just buy a nice reliable XT660

They are saying 5,000 miles for standard CCM spec. The 70 hours will be in the BMW trim

That's misleading, I know of two guys off another forum who've ordered bikes off CCM and have been having lengthy test rides and chats directly with CCM, that 70 hours is correct, so is the 5k miles, they have been using both, but the 70 hours is the crucial one, that engine is so volatile, even BMW themselves acknowledge it needs very regular oil changes.
In BMW guise, the servicing intervals are even less as its more highly strung.

Yep, one of its weaknesses, easily fixed though, the 660 isn't in the same league as the 690, the xt have had their own quirks too.
