Hi, can anyone tell me if they have ever swapped over a clutch cover from an sv650s 2000 model with the later clutch cover that doesn't have the plastic outer clutch cover with the o-ring attached but has the clutch outer cover as part of the main cover, I think its from the later model (2002), as the early models were prone to oil leaks on the o ring, and if so were any problems encountered through using the later cover?
your help will be most appreciated. Thankyou. Last edited by SV-Road-Warrior; 07-03-14 at 09:28 PM. |

Have done this before more than once.
You'll need to drain the coolant and you'll want a new gasket for the side case. Any year is fine for the gasket. The side case from a k3 onwards does not have the separate clutch cover. Jambo Sent without a real keyboard

Thanks jambo, I was also checking to see if there were any problems after fitting the later cover to the earlier crank case and if it stopped the oil leaking from where it's prone to leak (on the outer separate cover with o-ring) and also the water pump, does the original pump from the earlier case fit in the newer cover, thanks again.

As far as I know the earlier water pump would fit. However I've generally swapped the entire side case including the water pump over. Generally the reason for this had actually been leaking water pump seals rather than clutch covers.
Note that the water pump needs a fair bit of disassembly to remove it from the side case so I'd generally not swap it over if I didn't have to. Jambo Sent without a real keyboard
