Hi.
I'm new to BIG and SV's. My bike came with one right hand side mirror, looks OEM to me. The thing is, my previous bike (Vara 125) had lovely positioned mirrors that gave me a great rear view without having to move my head an inch. So I am used to that luxury and safety factor. This is also a technical post if anyone doesn't have mirrors to suit a 6'2" guy like me, but may know a site, a friends, a company that could provide a solution. I'm not TOO fussed about appearance, more about function. Cheers. ps: Just to check slang terms, "pointy" means an un-faired bike correct? ![]() |

nope, pointy is the K3 and onwards models, so called because the styling is far more angular. They also have fuel injection.
Curvys are up to 2002, and have carb induction. Frames are also noticeably different. Both models were available in N or S trim, N being naked, S being half or fully faired. |

I can vouch for Chewy mirror extenders, now my mirrors are only half elbow instead of three quarters, so much more useable!
I know what you mean about the loss of great mirrors, it was the same when I had a CBF 125, the mirrors were so well positioned I didn't have a blind spot and could see the tail without moving my head. Nearly got rear ended by a car a few weeks after I got my SV when I switched lanes in front of him because I didn't see him in my mirrors and I wasn't used to having a blind spot. After a couple of months I got the same level of awareness back as shoulder checks became second nature and learned where I could and couldn't see in my mirrors.

Search around bike shops and ebay etc for mirrors with longer stems, there are a few types that are a bit longer - but not by much usually. The wider mirrors on your Varadero are due to the height and width of the 'bars, rather than the mirrors themselves.
OP has a naked bike - mirror extenders won't be of use.

Greetings, I'm quite particular about my mirrors; a bit like chain & sprockets, don't really care what they look like, but they must do their job, if you're looking for somthing practical look no further
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KTM-MIRROR...item20e09ed405 purely functional, tall rather than wide (the shaft can be pushed in to make in half it's length if you want it shorter), flat and square, not magnified, ambidextrous fitting, affordable, I've fitted these on my last 3 bikes, (and at the price I keep a spare) it was the first thing to be changed when I got them. Obviously not on an SV, but here's a better look at them ![]() ![]() Cheers Mark.
