Default Race Pointy airbox?

The air box on our race bike as no top cover? The race air filter is just fastened onto the bottom section of the air box, does this give a good air intake? I am concerned there is no ram air effect like this?

Default Re: Race Pointy Airbox:

There is no ram air effect from the standard air box anyway (in fact attempting to add any such effect is not allowed in mini-twins). I've seen this done before, the air filter is going to get dirty quicker which isn't a major concern, whether you'd loose any benefits in terms of air in the airbox being less turbulent than that flying round under the tank I'm not sure.

I don't believe removing the top of the air-box is mini-twin compliant, but not checked what class you're racing in: http://www.minitwins.com/rules/rules2014c.html
