Default Dinged oil filter, replace?

So, as most of you know, I broke my SV and I'm fixing it.

When I put the new engine in I slightly dented the oil filter when I rested it on the ground.

Is the oil filter still good or do I need a new one?

"slightly dented" needs clarification before any sensible or wise person would offer advice.....

Get a new one. They're as cheap as chips any way.

I mean just that.

A 1/2" square area has dented about 1/16" in.

It's at the end where all the flats are. It's on one of the flats.

Sufficient information?

When you say new engine you mean second hand engine and second hand filter

Default Dinged oil filter.

If it were a second hand filter I'd just buy a new one, which is why I ask.

I'd use it. I doubt that what you describe would limit the flow through the filter enough to worry about. If you are much worried, take it off, dump it out and look it over.
