Default Aprilia Mille opinions?

Possibly a chance of one of the above.....
Dont know much about the bike yet 'cept:
1 owner from new, parked in garage fa 2yrs(ish), V. Low mileage, 2002 (guess, going by colour-gun metal gray)
Needs rear tyre/rear (??) brake leaver/MOT
Got a cracking back street bike garage in town, (Jeff Towers Guisboro) and Aprilia dealer 20min away (Teasdales Thirsk)
Any words of wisdom??
Good forum fa Aprilia/Mille??
Thinking this bike might be a steal price wise........
Cheers

Gen 1,
Check out the generator. Three wires and it's connector do melt. Stator failer not uncommon.
Replacement of the shunt type reg with the MOSFET R1 is a favourite mod.
Check out the tank, plastic and ethanol in petrol left sat for a extend time make for issues.
Side stands rubbish fit a blackbird one
Don't try and start it if the battery's not 100 %,or by by sprag clutch.

Heavy clutch. Don't like to be ridden slow.
Sound glorious.look the muts nuts. Factory is the only one to have

If you can accept the extra "drama" they are STILL special. Big n' proper.

I never could so I'm on a Honda.

My mate with his 03 Futura latest drama for there have been many is a corroded fork leg. Corroded as in crumbling away and exposing the stanchion. Noticed at MOT.

Do your research and know what you will be getting yourself into especially if its your only transport.

Just as an aside,Granted mine was a gen 2 ,but i rode it in the rain to and from work .Did just shy of 6,000 miles once i got the gunk out of the petrol-tank.It was always reliable.
Tierring to ride and man when the fans came on it roasted your legs.

As well as the UK one above the other top one, but from our cousins across the watter is AF1's http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/forum.php

Not been on in years since when I was pondering summit Mille based. Pretty sure this was where my said mate got a good Futura fork leg for £80 instead of price of a new one. (Make your eyes water!)

What Guzzler you thinking of?

The 2valve Grisos and Sports I have seen for not a bad price. Love Grisos but I was looking at the Sport for a touring lump but our Guzzi shop shut up here thus losing a top guzzi mechanic.

Yeah, I bottled it!
