Default Hella connection

Anyone know if I split a hella plug phone charger if I can connect the wires to my bike battery if it will still charge?

I think you'll still need a transformer. If you just wire your phone charger cable to the battery, you'll probably break it.

Hmm.. I think I'll leave this open to someone with deeper knowledge of such things. I'd say you could probably strip the wires going to the plug and attach them and be fine. But I must confess, I don't know.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. They're designed to connect to a vehicle's 12V electrical system and all you're doing is changing how the connection is made. Personally I'd rather fit a compatible socket.

Depends what the plug itself is doing?

Looks like it has a voltage reg somewhere by seeing the specs:

Input Voltage: DC 6-24V / Maximum: 16A
Output Voltage: DC 5V

Better be a switch mode regulator, otherwise the power dissipation is 300w. That sucker is going to get hot!
