Looking to get a new jacket. My old textile one is very waterproof now - once the rain gets inside (about 5 seconds after the rain starts) it can't get out. So I think it has to go.
Before clicking up 15,000 miles touring shops to compare the makes... It looks like I'm narrowed down to RST or ARMR. I like to touch an feel the jacket before I buy, so Internet is out if the question for looking at them. And I'm a cheapskate and don't want to go above £100. Any ideas how the 2 makes compare? |

£100, Um. Not seen a rst for that in the shops only on flea bay.
RST Pro Ser Ventilator III £149.99. The former version of this can do it all and zips to the Rst leather jeans.

I've got the Armr Moto Katsura, plus the trousers, and some of their gloves.
I've found all their kit for the money is awesome. Jacket was £110 without the electroluminescent light, and i am sure you'll find it for £100 somewhere. I went with the EL Light as it's a good backup if i have a rear light failure. It's 3 layer, with a wet and thermal layer. Comes with all the usual armour, and options for a better back protector, as well as a hexagon insert chest protector, and lots of velcro/straps to make it fit perfectly. Lots of other little clever innovations that you'll discover after wearing it for a while. Am now a big fan of their gear, especially when you look at function/cost. I've had more expensive makes, and i'd argue they're as well made, and considerably cheaper. Doubt i'd buy anything else now. |

I then discovered Richa.
The ARMR stuff looked nice, but either their sizing is done by very small people, or I am unfeasibly large today. I couldn't find the required 28XL to fit me. Richa looked nice and felt good, but 2XL is still taking the mick. It was over the budget, as ever, but if the wife can get away with exceeding the clothing budget.... |

I do like my Richa.
But are you looking at textile or leather ? I've an RST Textile and can honestly say it is the most carp like jacket I've paid money for. It has tried falling apart wherever it can and the finish is abysmal - don't get me wrong if they'd applied a bit of build quality it could be a great jacket. I do believe their leather range is better (but now I couldn't bring myself to buy one), and of course I may have the only Friday afternoon jacket they ever made ... |

Textile. I'd love a leather jacket but can't justify it.
The 12 month warranty on Richa threw it for me. The amount I wear it in sure there will be a claim under warranty! |

Bought an RST Pro Series Adventure, on sale because the Adventure II was due out. 3 layers for the cold and wet, vents all over for the summer (the arms even unzip like an 80s ski jacket). I've been very happy with it. Look at Spada as well, Mrs bought me a pair last autumn and they're really comfortable too.
