Default Oops, dropped bike :-)

Could have been a lot worse thankfully. Just parked bike up in work and had gone over some nails or similar in road on the way here, so was rolling bike to check the tyres. Went to lean bike back on the sidestand only to realise it wasn't all the way down. You can guess what happened next. I almost caught her, but 160kg with a full tank of fuel carries a fair bit of momentum. I managed to slow some of the impac, but still heard the whack as the bar end hit the floor. I pulled her back up expecting the worse, but thankfully I think I got lucky. Small scuff on the bar end and mirror, a tiny mark on the frame and an almost unnoticeable mark on the underside of the fairing. Moral of the story, be more bloody careful!

We've all done it, some of us more than twice. I've dropped every bike I've owned.

Dropped mine in a petrol station moving out of the way so the next person could fill up, stand wasn't down properly and down she went, alarm screaming, didn't know to pick the bike up or silence the alarm first, thankfully damage was pretty similar to yours, justified the purchase of my crash bungs with that drop though!

I think I need to consider getting some crash bungs. My first thought was oh no, the indicator has punched through the fairing, or the tank is dented as they seem to be the most common damage from that kind of drop. Still, neither happened thank god. I think the fact that the handlebars were straight when she went down helped. Still a sickening feeling when it happens though

If you've not dropped your bike at 0 mph entirely due to your own mistake in front of a bunch of mates, you've not experienced an important rite of passage.

Agreed

Try wrestling a CX500 with a full tank of fuel, when you're a 10 stone weakling.

The CX won every time

Dropped both of the bikes I've owned on their maiden voyage after buying them...

We've all done it, sometimes publicly, sometimes not. I once dropped my 125 in my own garage. At least it was light enough to pick up again!
