12 volts with 1.5 watts equals approximately 0.13 amps
even if the solar panel reaches 14 volts it will still only be a trickle charge current of around the same amperage Basic charge rate on an optimate is around 0.6 amps or so. I would presume that a good battery would be kept "topped up" in good sunshine conditions................. Helps? Cheers Terry |

These solar panels from maplins have an overcharge safety built into them so no need to worry.

I use one because I have no power outlet near my bike at my apartment. Works great.

Used them on cars when I'm away for long periods. Money well spent.

Just picked one up from my local Maplins this morning, they are being superceded by an up market job and the remaining stock is being sold at £14.99. Anyone who wants one better get one quickly before they sell out.

How is everyone getting on with their chargers?
Has anybody modified the connection so that it can be left attached and the panel removed when not required? |
