Default 650S K1 - Revcounter + Fuel Light

Hi All,

Haven't had a chance to trouble shoot this yet but thought I would ask incase there were any lightbulb moments. Was out with LOM on sunday and after awhile of riding.. started getting a weird problem.

The revcounter would go balistic (mainly while in 3rd+ gear) it would spring around but the engine is revving fine and normal speed. after awhile of this every now and then the bike would have a little stutter, the fuel light would flash on for a second or so when this happened (I had a full tank). It did get worse into the ride, and the speedo did decide to join in with the rev counter (just for a littewhile).Nearer the end it seemed to settle off and had a good final stretch.

I dont know if this is related but other things with the bike at the moment. The Horn isnt working. No Beep Beep and I have sometimes have to fight to get into neutral (this could just be me).

Any help or ideas to get me started would be great.

Thanks
Swaffs

thought I would add... for anyone having issues when out and about. foxy (my sv ) only started behaving on run back after I got off the bike screaming, swearing and sticking my fingers up at her in a sainsburys car park (yes there were people looking but I really didnt care)... just thought it mite be worth a try if you havent done so when having issues out and about...

Hi Swaffle friend of the great and omnipotent Mal bit of googlefu brings up a link (clicky) about a similar problem on svrider site. Tach gets its power from front coil so check connections on front coil for looseness and corrosion, i know im not much help as im a bit of a mechtard but have a free bump so the clever orgers see this thread

First, check your battery connections. That will cause lots of gremlins like this. The horn? Could just be dead. They're at the front of the bike, get covered in all sorts of crud and you can do the math on that.
Check there's 12v going to the horn with a finger on the button. If you don't have a meter, pull the connections off and use a tail light bulb, indicator bulb or similar.
Look up "SV clutch adjustement and worm gear" on the forum here. Lots of advice there on how to help you resolve the selecting neutral issue.

Cheers Guys, I may try and have a poke about the battery and the horn tonight if I have time before I head off to see Steel Panther. Ill have a lookup about for the neutral issue too, at first I thought it might have just been me not being used to the right point on it (trained on a 09 ER6-N) but it has seemed to be more trouble than I think it should be.

Check the connectors under the fairings they will have corrosion in there
