Default 4 piston calipers on Curvy?

Hi all anyone fitted a set of 4 pot calipers to a curvy? instead of the silly sliding standard ones. Got a set from a bandit 6,looks like I will have to make some adapter plates. Any thoughts.

Hi Mark,
There are adapter plates to fit GSXR 600 K1-K3 brakes kicking around (do a search on here there are a couple of people that make them with various reputations).

Most bandit 600s had similar 2 pot sliding calipers to the SV, so you may want to check exact year to help people find the plates with you.

My personal opinion is that the 2 pot calipers in good condition with decent pads are more than up to the job, and that is with both the road and track SV, but there's no doubt people swap the calipers over and seem happy.

What jambo said. The 2 pots are good when looked after.

I ordered a set of those adapter plates from SVRacing in the states quite some time ago. I don't think they ship with a tracking number. Still waiting.....

In the meantime I sold the Gixxer calipers as I had no use for them without the adapters. Beware.

Adaptor plates have a chequered history fit wise, some people have had no problems, some haven't been so fortunate.
You say 'silly sliding calipers' about the standard items, be aware that while there's no question they are a little low tech, however if they're working properly they should not be lacking. If you're having brake troubles check that everything is working right, and if not I'd fix what you have - not difficult and they fit fine.

Thanks for the reply's, maybe the calipers are from a Bandit12 (4 pot Nissin). Anyone got a decent photo of the adapter plates had a look at SV racing but the photo doesn't show what I need, I am planning to machine a set up from solid but would like to see one before I cut metal. Have got a fair idea of them. My SV is in a sorry state so I am going to do a few mods as I rebuild it.

Cheers Mark P.

Be careful copying the SV Racing ones, there was an awful lot of bother with them not fitting / not lining up.

Use the search function to have a trawl through the for sale section to find the thread with it in...

Thanks Fizzwheel, found loads of pics of different plates now I can make swarf and some plates as well. The main reason that I am changing calipers is the ones on the bike are shot and I have been given a set of freshly overhauled Nissin 4 pots.

Hi Ho of to the shed I go!

I made some adapters for 4 pot Nissan calipers for my '00 650 out of 1/4" aluminum plate and some spacers I bought on the internet from http://www.aluminiumspacers.com/.
Probably lots of other sources of ready made spacers.
Simple method for those of us who don't have a garage full of machine tools.

Hi, I know I'm replying to an old post, but I'm planning to do exactly the same for my 00 650 too. You don't happen to have a pattern lying around do you?
