Hi all,
I had 2 1980 XS650s and a 1980 XS11. I'm getting close to retirement and wanted something newer. After some research I settled on the SV650 and after selling one of my XS650s and the XS11 I picked up a 2008 SV with 7K miles. I'm really liking it so far. I just ordered a Fender Extender and I'm also looking at luggage systems.....GIVI, etc. On my third ride with the new bike my battery died and to make a long story short I neglected to close the tool cover and when i got home it was gone. So, I'm also looking for a replacement for that.
Thanks for any help,
Derby joe

I had a similar battery issue when I first got my 1999 SV. I slapped it on charge overnight and it's been fine ever since. Turns out the previous owner hadn't used it much before I bought it. Maybe your bike sat in a dealer's show room for a few months without being run properly before you got it?

Apparently these bikes are notorious for having dodgy regulator / rectifiers which cause all sorts of battery issues. If it's not just a flat battery you might wanna check that. There are a few threads on here about it.
