Hi All,
Me again, few things, advice on all welcome, Cheers ![]() 1: Firstly, having an issue with oil disappearing, thought it may be due to all the use, but after me and LOM looked at the usage over the weekend, think there is something off. Originally when I changed the oil, there was a slight dampness from the plug, however I tightened that and that's been bone dry since, however still seems to disappear. After letting the bike sit and dry from the weekend, I took my lil light and had a look around, through the frame, under the fuel tank I can see this, it seems not right to me, could this be the cause? ![]() 2: Also just checking this is nothing ive had alook through my haynes manual but cant see anything clear. From the airbox, there is a tube going round the frame, and to a t-junction. One goes around near the casing on the right hand side, however the other pipe from the T randomly sticks out from where the hinge is on the fuel tank... just checking this shouldnt be somewhere ![]() ![]() 3: Time to replace radiator? ![]() 4: Tried to check my coolant, however cant really see through the bottle, it just has a green tint, Ive read it can be funny to see, anyone got tips? ![]() 5: I know there is some info on this on the org, so going to read more into it, however incase it helps in regards to the loss of oil. Once the bike is warm and had it up to a good speed, the idle rev speed is about 2.5, if I hold the clutch out to the bite, it seems to regulate the engine back down untill I pull it back in. I obviously know this is as the engine is engaging. Sometimes it stays low but mostly goes high. LOM thinks this may be just the carbs need balancing so this may be a future resolution, however again, I know there is some info on here about the carb jets etc, this is just to add incase it helps with any of above. Anyway, thanks as always guys and gals. Speak soon! Swaf's |

2 it's the drain circuit from the tank and the coolant it's just sitting there
3 the rads okay but could do with checking 4 use a high power torch

Ill have another crack with a better torch, As for 2, I just got confused as I get having a drain to the ground, just didnt see the point in having a T with a pipe that goes and just sits below tank unconnected.

the stuff that looks like oil is in fact fuel, if you have an oil leak it would be a lot worse than that (it gets everywhere) oil level is dropping more than likely due to usage rather than a leak.
hose as Andy said is drain and breather dont worry about it. rad is fine just give it a gentle clean, take it off and spray it if it bother you that much. the expansion bottle is discoloured so just look through the filler. also check the level via the rad (remember there is a locking screw). |

What's the oil level like now, compared to when we topped it up on Friday ie how much has it dropped in 700+ miles?.

its about on the lower limit line, I used the rear stand to stand the bike up (just putting enough weight on it to keep it up without lifting the back wheel while I looked)

4. Next time you change the coolant, use the pink stuff. It's much easier to see.

if it was loosing that much oil via a gap somewhere your bike would be covered in the stuff.

hmmm, ill top it up and give it another check. Dont want to keep paying for tons of oil, exp if its almost gone every 700 miles... that like 2 trips out with LOM! Should I be worried about the fuel in the pic or should that be alright? Seem to be getting good mileage on it so musn't be bursting out.
Thanks for all the advice. Going to look into number 5 too, sometimes feel a tit when just sat and its idling high, keep holding the clutch on it to quieten it down ![]() |

idling high is either your tickover screw or sticky choke cable/plunger
dont worry about the fuel stains on the carbs unless they stay wet. the noise disappearing when holding the clutch in could just be a noisy basket, again nothing to serious to worry about unless its really noisy like a dry clutch sound (think ducati) |
