Default Cleaned my bike. Why?

Ok. So I knicked the washing up bowl and brush and set to work. Waxed and cleaned every crook and nanny. Now the bike looks not dissimilar to a few days ago.
Should I bother or just clean the oxidised remains in the spring?
Am I wasting my time or does a clean and virtually instant shizzing make a difference to the lifespan of my SV?
n.b. I have inherited a "lazy git" gene from somewhere so I am hoping for a "no worries" response preferably. Lazy emoticon (can't be bothered to find one!).

At this stage in the season I would just give it a quick clean at the weekend if it's salty, but I wouldn't go all out until spring. If you're riding all weathers at this time next year I would give it a thorough pre winter clean then cover all the metal bits in ACF 50 or similar then give it a reasonable wash every month or two/when it looks bad and reapply, then come spring give it a thorough post winter clean. However if you're not using it much in the winter I would just bite the bullet and give it a good clean after use.

Thanks Nuts.
The other day I'd have been sent back by a restaurant customer for being over seasoned, that salty! When I cleaned the rear brake hose guide it was actually bubbling!! I fear for anything made out of metal. And it won't be long before swingarm bearing replacement and exhaust stud removal... might just chuck it in the canal!

I find a £15 can lasts a year/ 2 treatments.
I was inOctober and not again until the frosts have gone. It'll look fine in April.

Is it a case of just spraying it on everything once you've given it a good clean and dry? How does it dry?

It doesn't.
It creeps into every orifice - ooh Matron! - and quietly gets on with its work.
It attracts all the carp in creation and neutralises it

Ok so not something you'd want to get on any controls or where your clothing would touch when riding then.
