Default Brake Caliper Overhaul

I recently had my SV in the garage to have a few bits done (chain and sprockets, front and rear brake pads) and the mechanic informed me that the retaining pins were seized on the front caliper said (both sides) and my rear caliper isn't in the best of conditions - so I'm looking to overhaul them all as I'm pretty sure they've never been done before. My plan is to buy a complete set of spare calipers and overhaul them before replacing the ones already on the bike.

Are all SV650 brake calipers the same? Between naked and 's' and curvy and pointy? I'm hoping so.

Are the same calipers fitted to any other Suzuki models? Makes the searching a bit easier.

Are there any 'better' calipers (or brake setups) which are a straightforward bolt-on solution? While I'm happy the standard brakes, if fully working, are enough for the power of the bike you can never have brakes that are 'too good'.

Has anybody got a link to any places that sell caliper refurb kits? - other than eBay. Really not a fan of buying that sort of thing from eBay.

Cheers in advance.

Hi,

There is a place called powerhouse, they trade online and they do refurbished callipers (admittedly ebay but really quick delivery etc etc.), however, with an afternoon and some fairly basic tools, you can get the calipers looking pretty epic in a very short amount of time. I did 2 videos, front and rear, and if it helps I have included the links

I'll definitely be doing my own so those 2 videos are absolute gold. Thank you very much for making them.

Fronts are the same but rears are different from K3 onwards. Not sure about later ABS things.

Really useful videos, but at the risk of opening a can of worms, it's best not to use copper grease on the calipers' sliding pins and rubbers. It doesn't stay very greasy and can damage some types of rubber. Red rubber grease (dirt cheap off eBay) is best for parts where metal bits move inside rubber bits.

Agreed- since these videos and useful posts from others on here, I bought some red rubber grease for £4 off ebay- much better.
