Default K7 GSXR 600 Fairing on a pointy

So I'm in the process of trying to turn my SV into a track weapon as cheaply as possible.

Seen a few bikes at track days wearing GSXR fairings and they look good. I've seen a cheap set on ebay and I'm thinking of getting them.

The only advice I've managed to get on how to fit them is "You'll have to make some brackets up" now this is all well and good but I am not sure how to make brackets, or where they would attach to the frame.

Has anyone fitted some non standard fairing? If so could you give some numpty proof instructions on what to do? Or if it's really complicated just tell me not to bother.

Chz

Its a bit of a faff, you will probably need a fairing stay, some of the standard brackets might fit with a little fettle.
I purchased some aluminium tube and some aluminium flat bar then fashioned some brackets to suit using the original mounting points, it takes a bit of time.

Sounds a bit like it's beyond my skillset and I don't have any metalwork tools.

Think I'll just stick with the road fairing for now. Probably end up breaking it in a crash anyway

The front subframe aside for the moment, you'll need at least four mounting points for the side and rear of the fairings. I made mine as simple as possible so its not pretty but works and takes four strips of metal, can be steel or aluminium, whatever you can find that bends well!
"Brackets" 1 + 2: I simply extended the original side fairing mounts outwards (and a touch down with a slight bend) with L shaped brackets to hold the side of the GSXR fairings.

"Bracket 3"
A bent strip hangs down from the lower exhaust mounting point on the right side to pick up the right side belly pan.

"Bracket 4" I had a bracket that was used to mount an aftermarket bellypan to one of the gear box casing bolts. It was close enough to simply drill a hole in the belly pan which lined up with it. Essentially another slightly bent piece of metal it points down, reaching both rearwards and outwards to meet the belly pan.

Now the front subframe:
You can use the original, its been done plenty of times and in my thread you will see a silver bike using one. (I think unless the image host as expired)

OR I got the SES lightweight one and carefully tweaked the upright arms to fit.

It will take some jiggling and a few mugs of tea but its not hard.

Thanks Redmist, I actually remember seeing your thread when you first put it up. To be honest, it sounds like its way too much effort and as I wont be racing, pretty unnecessary.

For what I need I think something like the green bike below it would be fine. Just need to work out a way to block up the headlight holes

Yup done that too: http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php...&postcount=119

Material used: 6mm thick Depron sheet. Cut, gently heat with hair dryer to give a little curve, vynil wrap or leave as bare sheet.

Had to google what Depron is, how did you get it to stick? Glue gun?

Yeah I did but if you want more durability, maybe fibreglass over the depron and use some more to fix in place, perhaps after the glue gun too.

Other good news is you can build a model plane from the spare Depron
