WTF is this - SV650.org

i first came across this place in my teens and have always been amused as to what its purpose is. the doors are very thick concrete reinforced steel and the opening is roughly the size of the back of a large artic lorry. it goes straight into the side of a mountain and there are no other entrances/exits to my knowledge. my personal feeling is that its a grain store.

thoughts?

IT was on tv recently, they lead to a vast underground oil storage tank.

this one is about 200 miles away in the borders. i'm now beginning to think that its a dam pipe maintenance structure or pumping station (hence the heavy doors to stop flooding a valley) as its in line of sight from a large reservoir that supplies water to edinburgh.

that article is well interesting though. never knew about it, i do now

well after a bit of googlefoo i'm now convinced that its something to do with when they built Megget Reservoir water pipeline.
