Default Speedo Out best way to resolve?

On a couple of local trips using the motorway though it was odd that little old ladies and trucks with 'limited to 56mph' stickers were always overtaking me. Anyway was on a long journey and got caught in stop start traffic and found myself behind an 07 scenic, you know the type with nice big bright blue speedo display designed for mr magoo so decided to stay behind/near as the the traffic cleared so see what the cars speedo read compared to my SV. Now I know this is not the most scientific of checks but thought it may satisfy my curiosity. I found that I was at 79 on the SV when it started to pull away from me and it was displaying only 67 so much more than a 10% variance. Will taking the speedo sensor off and cleaning it up improve things? should a new rotor alone improve things? or should I look to get a new sensor from the stealership?

I have the front springs and fork oil on my winter todo list so thinking as the front wheel will be off anyway some of you may have had similiar experiences

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

AJ

Default Re: Speedo Out best way to resolve?

sounds like a broken speedo rotor insert. this is common on the SV due to monkey tyre fitters not fitting the lugs part back properly.
