Default Is the new 8T a true SV replacement?

So the 8T and 8TT launched today. I was hoping for a relaxed sports tourer (Tracer 7'esque) but we got a pair of semi-retro roadsters instead.

The fairing on the TT looks nice but the colours don't do it for me. The 8T however seems way more pleasing to the eye than the 8S and seems more deserving of the title of SV successor?

Will need to see them in the metal but first impressions from the rest of you?

It looks nice naked but a bit street-fighter. Doesn't look pillion friendly, so its not for me. I'll eventually get back to biking and pillion seating is needed.

The pillion seat was the bit that struck me too. It looks precarious.

Personally I think both bikes would be improved enormously by fitting them with a nice V-twin engine.....

Alas I doubt the v-twin will make it to any new models. All the manufacturers tend to milk their compliant engines (think Honda's 500 and Yamaha's 700/900) and as I well know the Suzuki 800 unit is a peach.

One thing I like more than anything is the return to a round headlight. The mini projectors in all other recent models are very Marmite.

I've lost count of the variations of the 800cc Suzuki. I guess that's good as there should be something for everyone. The lack of pillion is endemic on most modern bikes, it also makes it difficult to attach luggage, so it's a turnoff for me.
