Default What's the point here?

Maybe I've been around too long ....... maybe I've turned into an old git, but I thought the point of this site was motorcycles, specifically the SV650?

yes you are right, the forum is wandering a bit. All that's needed is for off-topic posts to be taken offline. This is easy on this forum, as PM and MSN / Yahoo / AOl messenger is only a click away.

But people are free to post on whatever topic they feel like, if no one responds, the message would get through.....

Ah, you're referring to the Benji/Lee Simmons forum I take it?

I have to agree that the forum is becoming somewhat overun by frivolous and non-SV posts. Maybe that's a rather undemocratic statement but I do feel you've got a point.

How about a new section entitled "Serious SV discussions"? At least that way we could select just that particular section (as well as the Soho Massive of course!) and forget about the rest.

Everyone else would naturally be able to make their own choice.

Too elitist/focused? Christ knows...

Sorry.

But really, how many questions can you ask about the bike.

What tyres
What exhaust
What Brakes
What hoses
It keeps cutting out

etc...

This is not a dig, but just highlighting what where the most posted questions on the last forum.

I mean come on, live a lttle...have a laugh. Its nice to have software that allows us to do it at last.

Have to agree with Thumpa. SV650 forum is for, let me think..... ah yes, discussion about the SV.

Too much idle banter the content of which is begining to sound like a bunch of naughty school boys...

Personally I think its an age thing. You old farts are jealous

But seriously, being young & having the mental age of a 3yr old myself,I do tend to talk about stuff that older riders might not be interested in,but you dont have to listen do you?

Theres probably stuff that would bore the **** off me on here but I just take a ganders at what interests me,I suggest others do likewise.

We could always setup two areas, one for 18-30 and then one for everyone else!

Been wondering bout this myself, but mainly about the difference betwwen the forums (fora?). The banter is fun but seems like it belongs in The Bar which I'd have thought is the ideal place to chortle and have a laugh. Tho it doesn't bother me that much. OK, I'll go and potter in the garden now.

A forum section for 18-30 year old. Oh heck - 32 - officially an old fart
Now where did I put my slippers ? Cant find them guess I'll just have to whack my leathers on and have blast on my SV! j/k

Seriously tho - dont be too purist. Ok its for SV's and maybe the odd thread should be in the Bar and not here, but maybe a really busy forum makes for the best SV site in existence!

Ive been on many a board where people are put off posting as they are jumped on by people saying "you should post in that section and not here". Personally I find the Lee/Benji posts, for example, most amusing at times. And if it doesnt really go that off thread I dont see the issue in some harmless fun. Fun is why we have SVs ?

Just my 2p's worth because I think its a great forum and excellent site but there is only so much you can discuss "generally" about an SV. Sure there shouldnt be threads in here which are started on non SV matters, thats for the Bar, but an injection of humour from time to time makes my working day go faster !

Yay - Friday and a sunny weekend. Wonder what we'll be doing then
