How much does an SV (old shape) really weigh? - SV650.org

I suspect every weight I can find is a manufacturers dry figure, ie, total lies. But I'm just fitting my Veypor (more on this once I get it properly set up) and for the HP and torque figures it needs a reasonably accurate bike weight. Mine's been on a diet, but I can work it out from a sensible average figure...[/i]

Only a guide Northy but dry it weighs in at 169kg add to that 16kg fuel, 3.7 kilos of oil and 3.5 kilos of coolant......

Er, how does less dense than water 2.3L of oil weigh that much? The difference surely can't be brake fluid, can it?

This owner's adding 72 kilos fully geared up, thanks to his famous Less Crisps diet (only eat crisps on an even date of the month, works a charm)

Isn't the oil heavier than water? Ah, no, oil floats on water eh? Brake fluid'll be negligible I think, the Ultraseal in my tyres probably makes up a kilo or so... But then, the exhaust system and losing the pillion bits sheds 4 or 5. But I still need to counter Manufacturer Lies, since lets be honest, dry weights aren't exactly a yardstick of scrupulous honesty.

185 kilos seems a fair figure, for an average tank and all. What d'y'all think?

(I also know what HP the bike's actually making, so I can work back from this based off the Veypour figures to find out an accurate weight if I can get everything else spot on, I suppose...)

2.7L of oil iirc. 2.3L is for an oil change, 2.5 for oil and filter, 2.7 after a complete rebuild. Think thats right

Plus the filter won't be included in the dry weight, most likely.

isn't yours some what lighter due to parts being scraped/snapped off whenever you drop her?

Oh the controversy....sorry oil shoud read 2.4KG c'mon I'm a painter not einstein....And yes 169kg is right according to mr suzook 165kg is for the less lardy naked sv.

Fibre undertray will weigh 1/2kg less than standard I reckon.
