Guys,
I need some luggage for my SV... I need to carry a slightly larger than A4 laptop, plus power supply, plus clothes and shoes, plus food. I'd ideally like a soft bag of some sort (I don't care about protection as if I fall *I* am my main concern, not the company laptop) but it has to be secure in place whilst riding. It also has to be water proof as I ride in anything other than ice and snow. Anyone got any ideas? Apart from a rucksack ![]() Stu |

Oxford Products....
I have the panniers and Tailpack... I think the tankbag would take your laptop, if not try Baglux, also good kit |

I carry my lappy in a Targus rucksack - a proper laptop rucksack. The rucksack is held onto the rear seat by a standard cargo net. Nice and secure. If you want added protection put the lappy in a plastic bag inside the rucksack. The advantage of a laptop rucksack is in the padding - as you know they are full of spongy bits to help avoid shocks to the harddrive.

I have an Oxford expander tank bag and it will just about fit my skinny Dell Latitude notepad computer. I have to put it diagonally as the bag is not quite wide enough to fit it square on. There is no way that I could see even a standard sized notepad machine in a case fitting into the bag. The Oxford expander tank bag is excellent, by the way. |

AL,
Do you find a cargo net damages the paint at all? I have on from my GPZ but don't want to damage the paint sdo haven't used it on this bike. John, What Dell laptop do you carry -mine's a Lattitude D600. If I can get it in sideways, and carry my change of clothes then this may be a good option for me. Thanks all Stu |

I've heard that Kriega rucksacks are pretty good, they have a website out there somewhere.

Stu,
I don't think it's damaged the paint - due for a wash & wax this weekend so I'll take a look. I'm putting hooks under the side of the seat and then looping the net over the two round "studs" and as long as I push the hooks under the seat edge carefully, it shouldn't damage the paint. My only wory with doing this is if I haven't put my seat on properly, I could be losing the lot on the A40! Given a choice I'd get something more permanent but haven't sufficient funds right now. We sometimes have these bags a little worn that get thrown out at our place. I'll keep a look out for one if you want to save some money - not sure how much they cost new but they are not cheap. Let me know. Al.
