Default anyone whose dropped the engine out!!!

I'm currently doing a "bit of work" on the bike, it's a 99 s. I don't know if it matters but it's also canadian
So. I'm trying to remove the swingarm and the engine, on two of the bolts they have what can only be descibed as castle battlement shaped collars, they are threaded into the frame and they hold the nuts on the bolts. No the nut on the other side of the swing arm bolt has come off, I can only assume the same for the engine bolt. How the hell do I get these things off? Do I need a special tool? Whats it called? I am going insane trying to sort this thing out.

Please help me!

According to Suzuki, you do need a special tool, which you should be able to order from your dealer. (have a look at the downloadable manuals on the site home page, it has a section on special tools).

However, if like me your not loaded ( If you are, could I ask ***, no forget it) then another way is to get a socket which fits, mark out the peg locations and grind out the rest.

You need a socket for each of the different sizes, but they only cost a few quid over here, so shouldn't be that expensive ( I use my old imperial ones).

Hope this helps.

Cheers Mark.

On mine for the outer nut I just hammered it with a screw driver as its not that tight. For the inner on I insert a flat drill bit for cutting holes in wood and turned it with an adjustable spanner. Not the best option, but the cheap option.

I did the same as Rictus..... Just go to a hardware store and buy some cheap sockets, then attack them with your angle grinder....

Cheers guys, 1"1/8 socket and 15mins with the angle grinder and hey presto. Only thing was it absolutely stunk when I got it out, I guess it had some sort of sealent on it that had gone off.

Nice one

One other trick. Try your local bike shop (I mean push bike). Mi old man had a simular problem with his aprillia. £60 for the OEM part. £3.99 at the bike shop.
