Ok, so who's up for joining this group in the spring? With all the talk of accidents and my own experiences I can't help thinking that more training is a good idea.

Seriously considering something in the spring. Bikesafe or similar. Haven't really looked into it yet. Just thought about it!

I think they call it Edge 44 round here, or something silly.
I dropped into the place I trained the other day and one of the instructors recommended getting it done.

Can recommend the Edge44 but it is only a riding assessment with a motor cycle policeman and lasts about 4 hours. Gives you some good pointers as to how you can improve your safety. IAM is a natural progression from this and I would consider it in 05. PM and perhaps we can sort something.

IAM - just do it

It's more than the odd training course - you can do this stuff over a year or so, then progress to being an observer....senior observer....etc etc - and generally, apart from the yearly membership (£85 then £40 or so per year thereafter) - you also meet other bikers, get to see how others ride etc etc..

DO IT - I don't think you'll regret it!

I did the Edge 44 asessment this summer - best day out since buying the bike. If your riding is of an appropriate standard you get a privilege card allowing discounts at certain stores and on certain insurance - not bad.

Although you pay for four hours, we were out for over SIX...........

I'm considering joining IAM after Christmas - I know I can improve LOADS!! Got to be worth it. The Edge 44 thing is a good starting point though.

That's where I found the link for the solent group.
I'll definitely be doing it, and will book something with edge 44 in the spring. For now I'm just gritting my teeth and waiting for the weather to get nice again.
