Default battery help

Ok, got my new battery and got back and then realised I don't know how to swap the batteries over and even if it's safe to do in the rain.
Can anyone give me any help on how to take out a battery and put in a new one, and if it is safe to do in the rain?

Thank you guys again!

Mate,

Instead of me / us clogging up the bandwith on here with pics and an explanation.
Go down to your local newsagent and pick up this months Ride mag for £3 quid and pennies.
It's got a full explanation and pics on how to do what you're after - in this months edition also a very good read after you've finished

Take the seat off. pull the little tray with the fuses up and move it to the side (it does not come all the way out), disconnect the ground (black) wire and then the hot (red) wire, pull battery up and out and then reverse the steps to install the new battery....... I wouldnt do it in the rain (unless you can find some shelter), but thats just me

none of the magazine shops had the magazine in them.

I thought it was as simple as that, but I didn't want to do it in the rain and go bang!!
Doubt I'll have any other time to do it, but I will wait and see if I can do it early tomorrow morning before I leave for work, then I might not have to get the train!

Unless it's absolutely ****ing it down, I wouldn't worry too much about the rain.

These "fast facts" on the BMF give the low down on many biking issues. They state
Quote:
"It is not sufficient for your bike just to be taxed, the tax disc must also be displayed in front of the rider on the nearside"
Mines at the rear, using a chain guard bolt

See here for more: http://www.bmf.co.uk/fast_facts/index2.html

My one is completlely waterproof, but I do have to cut about 1mm off all round the disk, and undo about a bazillion allen bolts to replace the disk

Anyone have their disk at the front of the bike?

WTF has that got to do with changing the battery??

Change it in the rain/snow/hurricaine winds. Just get + to + and - to -

Remove the -ve lead(black) first then the +ve. When putting in the new one connect the +ve lead(red) first.

Cheers
Ben
