Seems to me that the driver did not indicate before turning, biker did not stand a chance.

That's why you don't overtake past a junction.

Mmmmm, not sure about that one - possible 50/50 I think.
The van did not appear to indicate, however Double yellows down the middle of the road - not sure if they have the same meaning as double white lines in the UK? There was a sign on the right of the road before the van turned indicating that there was a turning to the left - overtaking on any junction is always going to be risky.

Cool.
Double Yellows - naughty boy MiniVan braking - usually a sign of something about to happen. Turning to the left - another good sign In the UK if the other vehicle fails to indicate, or indicates incorrectly, they are not wholly to blame - the responsibility still falls to teh other road user! |

Yes the biker's fault, he didn't read all the available signs. Hope he was okay though.

The car should be to blame because he saw one guy pass and should have looked in his mirror before turning. It also looked more like an emergancy stop then a stupid turn.
It looks like that the bike was not in the cars blind spot at all, probably someone was on the phone.

Errm, it may just be my imagination or the compression artifacts, but it looks like the yellow lines go round to the left where the car was going.
Even if they go onwards where the first bike went, it's still the biker's fault. It's a bugger, because the car should look before making a maneuver, but there were double yellow lines, which I believe mean the same thing as double white lines over here and there was a junction. Basically, the biker didn't think ahead, which is something we're all guilty of at some point or another. |

From a training for advanced test riders point of view - NEVER EVER overtake when there are ANY turnings that the vehicle you are overtaking could possibly turn into at the last moment without indicating - cos they may just be idiots
![]() From a car driver with 25 + years experience (and being a biker) - MIRRORS, signal, manouvre - always expect there to be an biker overtaking when they shouldnt be ![]() (well thats my theory anyway ![]() oh yes and hope the biker was ok ![]() |
