Default Coolant Level

How do you know if you have enough coolant?

I put my fairing back on last night and knocked the cap off, got to work and had coolant all over my right leg. I thought the radiator was knackered.

I dont think i lost to much, i only travel 2 miles to work.

If you look though the right hand side I think below the tank is a little resivor that has a min and max level. Top it up there, though you will need to lift the tank up.
SV manuals should have all the info you need.

Is mine the only SV that has coolant expansion tank that is opaque? I can't see jack through it, and end up having to dip to guess where the level is!

I think you'll find that they are all opaque - as are those found on 99% of cars!
This shouldn't be too much of an issue though, as the anti-freeze in the water should be a fairly bright colour (bright green/blue/pink) so you should be able to just about see how much coolant you have in the reservoir!
