Im not sure about the thou, but the sump on the 650 isnt seperate from the engine, so its a nightmare. If the sump is seperate on the thou, then, its easy peasey. remove sump, re tap hole, voila.

I also don't know the answer, however one question does spring to mind. If the sump plug is welded shut so to speak, how many miles has it done on the same oil

BigApe has a good point. Personally I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. If it was easy to fix you can be sure the seller would have done it, and would then be able to ask considerably more than he is.

If you get a garage to do it, it is about £100 - £150 for a thread insertion.
