Default Service and Suzuki or Not?

HI all,

Probably the wrong forum to stick this on, but has anyone had any dealings with George White in Slough as far as servicing?

Horror stories or not

Cheers - Mass

Default re george white in slough

I hav had all my servicing done at George White in Slough, mainly because I bought my bike new from GW in Peterborough but slough is nearer to me.
I can honestly say they have always done a good job as far as I can tell. In three years the same mechanic, Kelly, did all the work so she knew the bike so to speak. I don't know if they're particularley cheap or not but I reccommend them. I only stopped using them at 28,000 miles because I finally got brave enough( and out of warranty) to do the servicing myself.

You should be fine taking your bike anywhere as long as its not Rex Judd in edgeware, that workshop you should avoid like the plague.

I had my 4k done last week at JHS, who must know a thing or two about SVs given their line in work. Nice people, good to chat to whilst they did my bike, too.

Depends how far you're willing to travel I guess...

Rex Judd.

Once is unlucky.

Twice is careless.

Three times______ I smell a rat.

I think we still have some photos of it burning down at work,Ill have to look.

I bought my bike form George White London (most of the servicing goes to Slough).

In my experience - fantastic prices but salespeople know less about the bikes than they make out they do...

Servicing - can only cvouch for myself and a mate, but both bikes - the SV and an R6 - took a lot longer to prep than they should - it was almost 3 weeks for the SV, just to check it, restrict it and get it back. The R6 took about 2 weeks just to check.

If you let them know in tiime, they can give you a loan bike while yours is away. Personally I got it serviced closer to home - easier! I'd definitely buy from them again though!

Thanks for the input all

I picked the bike up about 4'oclock this afternoon, and had a look at the new GSX 1000 whilst I was there, some lucky person had bought it, the titanium can it had on it was just luuuuvely or YUM! as IANSV would say.

As for the servicing, I can honestly say that they are not too bad on price, considering the majority of places I phoned wanted about the same.
And they could fit me in today. none of the others could
As for the finished article, I can say the bike feels a lot different, it actually felt like a different bike, like she has had extra hp added.
All the way home I was looking for 7th heaven (the 7th gear )

You can see that they have actually looked at the bike, and why not after the price I guess. Paul, the servicing manager, was very polite and knowledgable.

I would go back there, but do agree with one of the comments about the sales staff

I now have the Blue Cow back, with a new tank pad fitted (long story)

Great!

wow I didn't know rex judds place had been burnt down three times.. Its quite nice to hear it though. I could go on about them for ages but it would only get me all angry again!! I will share this though..
My prevoius bike(ACagiva mito) had needed a new main bearing under warranty so I took backit to rexjudd, the place I originally paid £3500 for it
( stupid, stupid but I was seduced by the paintwork and agip stickers)
Anyway, I waited three months for the spares to arrive, fair enough, Cagiva spares were hard to get at the time. I get a phone callk from Brian to cheerily inform me that my pride+joy was ready for collection. I walk in the door and he pushed the keys into my hand saying ' Alright simon, its been totally sorted and we test rode it this morning no problem at all.'
I thank him and get on the bike, turn the key, start her up, go to pull away and realise that theres no brake lever on the right hand bar. Not a broken lever mind, no lever at all. I turn the engine off and get off the bike to have a look at it properly, dreams of a sunny afternoons ride fading. Covered in oily handprints, scuffed pillion seat, a scratch through to the metal on that beautiful tank, a bent gear lever, scratched bar end and most of the fairing panel bolts were at an angle in their mounts as it the thread had gone in out of line, I was pig sick. I went back into the workshop and put the keys on the table. I asked Brian how thw person test riding the bike this morning could have failed to notice there was no front brake? he just said 'Oh sorry about that mate I'll get it fixed for you now, have a coffe'
After much argument They promised to order me a new pillion seat(never arrived) free next service(I never went back) and the lever was replaced with a pattern lever that was taken off another bike waiting for repair, right in front of me. My brembo lever had gone and now they even scratched the painton the bracket fitting it. You know how sometiumes you just want to get out of a place as soon as? that was one of those times. If it happened now I'd get a solicitor and take them to court but back then I was a bit greener and didn't know about that stuff.
you see>>??? just the mentiopn of rex judd gets me all het up and I ramble on for ages aboiut it!!!!

whoever burnt the place down... I salute you!! please do it again!

As an alternative to the Suzuki agents (unless you need the stamps for the warranty), I just got my SV serviced at PDQ Engineering on a small industrial estate about 2 miles west of Slough (Taplow, to be precise). They were very good and a major 8000 miles service worked out at £340 all in. Not sure how that stacks up against what you paid at GW.

PDQ also have a whole bunch of performance enhancements that are tempting too!
