hahahahahah they are all good for different things........ What do you want out of a tyre? And don't say, slick like dry grip, excellent wet grip, quick warm up, immensely long life, and low in price. Tyres are all about compromise.

Of those choices:
Best grip: BT014. Shortest life though. Best everything else and plenty grippy enough as well: Conti Road Attacks/Z6/Diablo Strada. Very little separates all three of those tyres in all the relevant areas, I'm now running Diablo Stradas on my 1000, and I think I slightly preferred the shape of the Contis, and considering they're the cheapest they're hard to beat. Oldest design and probably now outclassed by all the others: BT 020 Still a useful bench-mark for SV tyres and far from poor, but too dear and the newer tyres are better.

need more options...I have z6's now and like them but preferred the feel of my 010/020 combination. The zeds win in the wet though and are reputed to last much further if uncle Rictus is to be believed.

Out of the ones you've listed, (which I'll admit, I've only tried 2 of) I would say the road attacks. Having talked to people who have tried all, there isn't alot in it between them and the road attacks are just a bit better in the wet as well as being a bit cheaper.
Of course, if you were to add the Avon Vipers, I think I'd vote for them. I've only done 100 odd miles on them so far, but I'm definitely having some fun with them. I've tried D220s, road attacks, BT020s and now Avon Viper sports. |
